The Glossary
Please be warned that if you have not yet read through Land Quest, then there might be some spoilers below. Read at your own risk! Thank You! Administrative Team: The omnipotent group that direct the Grid Managers in how they oversee the infinite system of Grids within the universe. Balance: The state of Good vs. Evil within a dimension. Although it is desired to keep Evil out of all pure dimensions, if Evil does infiltrate, the goal then becomes to maintain the balance of Good and Evil firmly on the side of good. The World Dimension is particularly adept at maintaining this balance. Barrier: The shell that surrounds a dimension, keeping it contained. The manifestation of the Barrier varies from dimension to dimension. Blue Rogue: Sailing vessel in the Land, captained by Anja. Known for its blue sails. Capital City: The center of government in the Land. Located on a platform floating over the lake in the Rivers Region. Cave of Souls: The location of the Mother Tree in the Land, outside of the Mountain Village. Tended to and protected by the Seer of the Land. Convergence: Large town in Meadows Region, situated where the Meadows, Mountains and Marshes Regions meet. Known as a rowdy, rambunctious place that has fallen under the influence of Evil tendencies more rapidly than other parts of the Land. Counterpart: Mirrored souls existing in two different dimensions. Counterparts have incredibly similar appearances and similar characteristics to one another. Like twins, they are separate entities but have a commonality that creates a bond. Dimension: A unique world or concept, encapsulated by a Barrier. Each dimension has its own rules that govern the inhabitants. Dimensions are kept on a Grid, overseen by a Grid Manager. Evil: The entity which seeks to tilt the balance in his favor, creating a failure of the dimension. Craves chaos and destruction, always seeking new dimensions to topple. Fallen Dimension: A dimension that has been overrun by Evil; the balance has tipped in Evil’s favor. The inhabitants are generally killed or turned to Evil’s bidding when this occurs. Grid: The structure on which the dimensions are housed. Each Grid carries a finite number of dimensions. If too many of the dimensions on the Grid fall to Evil, the Grid fails. If one Grid fails, it can cause a cascading event that could lead to the destruction of the universe. Grid Manager: The entity that oversees the Grid to which it is assigned. The Grid Manager is responsible for forming the dimensions on the Grid, housing them, watching for the flux of good and evil. They are assisted by the Interdimensional Fairies. Griffin: Guardians of the Land; creature with head of an eagle, body of a lion, and wings. Their primary function is to protect the integrity of the Barrier, and they have a strong affinity to Oracles. Healer: One of the three major powers in the Land; can be male or female, gifted with the ability to manipulate and heal with hands. This line died out in the Land a century before the Quests began. Interdimensional Fairy: Winged beings that live and work within the Grid to assist in monitoring good and evil as well as a variety of other duties. Interdimensional Void: The area between the dimensions where the Grid is located and the Grid Manager and fairies inhabit. Master Wizard: Leader of the Wizarding community; elected into position. Oversees the wizarding university, and governs the rules and legislation of the wizarding body. Matje: Hawk who befriends Sasha Vanden during her quest. Mermaids: Underwater inhabitants of the Land; can be uni-finned, bi-finned or legged. Highly promiscuous and lacking in morals; easily led astray by Evil. Mountain Village: The home of the Seer of the Land, located in the Mountains Region. Oracle: One of the three major powers in the Land; usually male, gifted with the ability to manipulate energy. There is a direct relationship between the Barrier and the Oracle. The Oracle of the Land is the ruler of the people. Oracle Glow: Manifestation of Oracle power. Concentrated in the hands, the power is usually formed into a globe and then utilized as a weapon, transmitter of information, or warning. The color of the glow is specific to the individual Oracle. Prince’s Guard: The militia that is spread throughout the Land, under the direction of the Captain of the Guard. The Captain reports to the Prince of the Land. Prince’s Herd: A group of horses that roam the Land. They answer to no one and are not ridden. Long seen as a symbol of the Land’s health and well being. Protector of the Land: An individual from the World Dimension who travels to the Land Dimension and completes a quest. Also called Protectors. Protector Pendant: The necklace given to the Protectors of the Land, in the shape of the Tree in a circle.
